Cairo-dock and avant-window-navigator

Cairo-dock and avant-window-navigator

Well, this is quite easy. This effect consists of two packages, cairo-dock and avant-window-navigator. To install simply run
sudo apt-get install cairo-dock cairo-dock-plug-ins avant-window-navigator
in a terminal. This will install the packages.
Then, execute both with
avant-window-navigator
and
cairo-dock

Edit: When the packages arent in your repositories yet, you first have to add the repositories to your list. This can be done with opening your sources.list in gedit with root rights:

sudo /etc/apt/sources.list

then, add the following lines to the document:

#repositories for cairo-dock
deb http://repository.cairo-dock.org/ubuntu gutsy cairo-dock
#repositories for avant-window-navigator
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/awn-testing/ubuntu hardy main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/awn-testing/ubuntu hardy main

Now, make them look the way you want. You can adjust position etc with running
awn-manager or doing a right-click on the dock. Cairo-Dock’s preferences manager can also be started with a right-click on the dock.

To make the applications start on computer boot, navigate in the main menu to System > Preferences > Sessions, Press Add and enter avant-window-navigator and cairo-dock

Well, thats all, have fun!
